moneyTREASURER TRAINING Thursday 23rd January at Park Plaza, Shrewsbury, SY1 3AF.  If you are new to the Treasurer Role or would like a refresher come and join us at Park Plaza, Shrewsbury, SY1 3AF on either the afternoon or evening when we will be running a Treasurers' Workshop.  Please book through your secretary.  Cost £5.00 to include tea/coffee.

paint PAINT REPUBLIC Saturday 25th January at Cockshutt Village Hall 2.00 - 4.00 p.m.  NON MEMBERS welcome

Painting workshop. Create your own canvas, with instructor-led tuition Cost £30.00 to include all materials.  Tea and cake provided during short interval.        This will be a SFWI fundraising event.

place setting ORIGINS LUNCH at Shrewsbury College of Arts and Technology, London Road, Shrewsbury, on Tuesday 28th, Wednesday 29th, Thursday 30th and Friday 31st January.  This will be a SFWI fundraising event.  

Please note this is a SET MENU - any allergies/special dietary requirements need to be detailed on the booking form.

  • Starter :                    Baked Celeriac with horseradish cream and onion crumb
  • Main :                       Braised Beef with parsnip puree.  Served with vegetables of the day  OR                                                                     Polenta with artichoke, spinach, peas and parmesan (Vegetarian)
  • Dessert :                  Choux bun with caramelised apple compote, white chocolate and almond cream with                                                  salted caramel crumb  OR Meringue substitute for Choux Bun (gluten free alternative)

Pick ups will be Mile End Roundabout, Oswestry 4.15 p.m, Shrewsbury Abbey Car Park 5.00 p.m. and Telford Service Area 5.30 p.m.

Cost £40.00 includes coach fare, entry to race track with race card and a three course meal from their menu (choose on the night)   This will be a SFWI fundraising event.

heart SHOW THE LOVE EVENT  Attingham Park - 15 February 2020  THIS HAS NOW BEEN CANCELLED

Come and join us for a fun day of activities to promote climate awareness which will include :

  • A green heart walk
  • Hands-on activities
  • Opportunity to engage with a variety of climate friendly organisations including; National Trust, British Hedgehog Preservation Society, Friends of the Earth, Shropshire Wildlife Trust, Natural England, Dothill Nature Reserve, Cheshire Federation WI

A great day out for all the family.  National Trust members free.  Non-National Trust pay on the day.

CROCHET CROCHET FOR ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS Friday 21  February at Park Plaza, Shrewsbury SY1 3AF 10.30 a.m.-4.00 p.m.

The session will be led by Sue Pinner, a designer, pattern maker, author and regular exhibitor.  You will work to make a granny square to give you the skills to do several basic stitches.  Please bring 4.00 and 5.00 mm crochet hooks and double knit yarn of your choice.

Our pre-show event where you can ask questions and solve potential problems at any county competition where NFWI rules apply.

Gawthorpe Hall houses the North West's largest collection of portraits on loan from the National Portrait Gallery.  There is also 'The Gawthorpe Textiles Collection', a wonderful collection of intricate lace, embroidery and needlework amassed by Miss Rachel Kay-Shuttleworth. Gawthorpe is also the final stop on 'The Bronte Way', a long distance route with strong association with the writings of Charlotte Bronte and the family.
